FAEC – Company September, 2017 Quarterly Meeting

FAEC – COMPANY QUARTERLY MEETINGS
HELD THURSDAY AND FRIDAY,
SEPTEMBER 7th AND 8th,
IN COLUMBUS

Greetings to all of you on the road and those at home this week.
The last couple of weeks have presented many challenges for all of us, and we have been so touched by how our membership has bonded together to weather these trying times (no pun intended).
During our FAEC – Company quarterly meetings on September 7th and 8th, several issues raised by the membership during the last three months were topics on the agenda.  Also in attendance was Kimberly Barbaro, IBT National Coordinator for Flight Attendants, who we invited to observe the meeting.
We met with Dave Benson, Director of Workforce Optimization, about the process for cross-training.  We also talked about adding new bases for the Flight Attendants hired after ratification.  We believe our best hope for opening additional bases would be to identify approximately five bases that we would like to see added to the list of 25.  Please email the FAEC with your preferences, keeping in mind that the Company will be more receptive to major hubs (e.g., Tampa, Milwaukee, or other airports surrounding major metropolitan areas, such as Los Angeles and New York).  The Company is still not willing to open new bases on a large scale, but they have suggested that we put together our top five wish list for review.
Next, we met with Lynn Wombacher, Manager of Aviation Emergency Response Plan, to discuss mechanisms NetJets has in place to deal with emergencies.  Lynn shared with us that only 40% of all crew members have updated their emergency contact information on the ADP portal.  Please review and edit as needed so that the proper people can be notified on your behalf.  Additionally, please make sure that your family members at home know how to reach NetJets should something happen to you off duty.  She recommends giving them the 24-hour Security Command Post number on the back of your ID badge (614-239-5412).
We also spoke with Michelle Kramer, Vice-President, Global Travel.  She recommended crew members use the Lyft app to rate Lyft.  She also reminded us that the app offers a $15 ride credit when you sign up which can be applied to personal use.  Moreover, please get a sign-up code from another Flight Attendant who has already signed-up, and that Flight Attendant will also get a free ride credit.  Lyft also has other benefits from time to time when utilizing the app.
Jason Demkowicz, Vice-President, Scheduling and Crew Planning, met with us to go over the new program for how international trips are assigned.  It appears the new program is working and is helping to more equally distribute flying. Since it is still in early stages, we will continue to monitor and evaluate its progress.
We have been asked by some how the pilot reopener will effect us. We are not privy to all the issues but, from what we have heard, it will be limited to a few specific sections that are unlikely to relate to any Flight Attendant issues.  Nonetheless, once they have completed the reopener, any “me-too” clauses that get triggered will be applied to us.
Lastly, we briefly discussed the Company’s decision to terminate its relationship with the Reed Group and instead use Unum to manage Flight Attendants’ leave process.  In addition, we were informed that there will be some changes with our healthcare plans that have potential benefit for most Flight Attendants.  This information will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead, and details will be announced prior to open enrollment.
Jeff Winslow, Chief Flight Attendant, announced the Company has authorized him to begin hiring new Flight Attendants beginning in February, 2018.
Do not forget to exercise your right to vote in the upcoming election for the 4th Representative on the FAEC.  The ballots will come by mail.  The election will close on Thursday, October 12, 2017.
We hope this addresses many of your current concerns and questions.  Should you have other issues that arise over the next three months, we will have our next quarterly meeting on November 16th, and a System Board of Adjustment (SBA) tentatively will be held November 17th.
Fraternally,
Your FAEC
